  • Hey buddies of GMC!
This time we’re gonna focus in the writing of a metal song, with various parts where we will want the riffs to go in a succession from lower to higher and end it with a melody that gives the song a meaning. Like my exercise "Metal Riffing in B Minor" it was written by me and my friend and yeah, it’s in B Minor too.

The first part starts with small melodies that harmonize in minor thirds on the second repetition. The second part is simple: it’s thought to be played when the singer starts, I do A & B three times and then G & A.

Later, it repeats the same but with a harmonization in thirds. Following, it comes what would be the chorus of the song, nothing much to say here. After the chorus comes the outcome that has the same melody that I’ve mentioned in the beginning, created
over the B Minor scale, that raises the tone gradually. It has to be played all with Alternate Picking. This way allows for a smoother & easier playing! Enjoy It.

It finishes with a riff over the G diminished scale, it’s an ending that creates a lot of tension, giving a dark, heavy tone. This type of scale it’s pretty much used in this style so try it and create riffs with it.!

    tuning:

    guitar tune down one step

from thick to thin string this are the notes:

    D G C F A D

This tuning allows you to get lower sounds that suit this style really well. It differs from traditional tuning because the frequency here lets you work with a wider range of lower sounds. If you wanna get lower yet, tune one step down and then the 6th string in dropped C.

    Chords:

    A B G A B

    techniques:

    palm mute
    string skiping
    picking
    alternate picking
    legato

    scales:

    B minor scale
    G diminished scale

    B minor:

    G Diminished:
