Jim S.8th February 2015One of my favorite parts here is the amount of tension in the G note leading back to 1 on page 3. Makes you think about how important it is to understand what your playing because in this instance the note G is the root of the chord being played but the 4th of D.

In this lesson I will share with you some ideas & techniques to create some nice Soul/R&B guitar parts.
So we'll take a look at triads, chords inversions, double stops and much more to make it interesting!

We are in the key of D major and here's the chord progression:

The overal idea about this kind of comping is to not "overplay", leave room between the chords/notes, leave room for other instruments... In other words : don't be afraid of the silence!
