  • Hi Guys,

Welcome to my lesson No. 53

Maybe you remember my earlier lesson about the funk brothers

[...]The Funk Brothers was the nickname of Detroit-based session musicians who performed the backing to most Motown recordings from 1959 until the company moved to Los Angeles in 1972. They recorded hundreds of great hits, including "My girl", "I Heard It Through the Grapevine", "Baby Love", "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours", "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" and much more. These great musicians recorded hits for Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, The Temptations, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Wonder etc just to name a few...

They formed a specific sound that until now is really popular in today's soul music, for example Joss Stone, Simply Red, Chaka Khan and many more.[...]

So today I made another lesson with an even more typical and realistic sounding Soul/Motown touch. The similarity to the classic song "Sitting On the dock Of The Bay" is very obvious here. :-D

Here are the parts of this song:

    A Part 0:00-0:23
    | F A7 | Bb Bb/C | F A7 | Bb Bb/C |
    | F A7 | Bb G79/B | Bb/C | Bb/C |

    B Part 0:24-0:42
    |F | A7 | Bb7 | G7 |
    |F | A7 | Bb7 | A7 |

    C Part 0:43-1:09
    | Dm | F/C | Bb7 | G7 |
    | F A7 | Bb G79/B | Bb/C | Bb/C F |

    Have fun! ;-)
