The "Chicken Pickin' Etude: Level 3" lesson builds additional fundamental techniques of chicken picking and directly adds onto the level 1 and level 2 etude lessons. We focus on both the left and right hands.
In the left hand we outline major and minor dyads in the first inversion, a common technique/phrasing in chicken picking. In level 3 we now add in additional chromaticism as well slides and double-stops.
In the right hand we utilize hybrid picking which is covered with camera close-ups.
In this lesson we focus finalizing the stylistic technique with palm-muted dead notes and snappy hybrid picking. My basic chicken picking tone utilizes the bridge pickup on my Tele, a compressor, and slapback digital delay into a lightly overdriven Fender-style amp with a touch of spring reverb.
