Sound
Beatiful. I absolutely love Yngwie's tone, defintitely one of the best I've ever heard. The bass, drums, keyboard, and vocals are also incredible. 10
Guitarwork
This is why you would even buy this album in the first place, right? Well you won't be dissappointed ( unless your a Yngwie hater). As already mentioned, Yngwie has one sick tone, and his extremely fluid and clean playing just make it sound all the better. From lightning fast sweeps and speedpicking runs to slower acoustic pieces, you will find it all here! 10
Vocals
There's only singing on two songs. That said, the vocalist's voice is quite impressive; I actually really enjoyed it. 9
Lyrics
OK, here's where the album takes a bit of a hit.The lyrics are very cheesy and "power-metalish." Now I don't mind most powermetal (about dragons, warriors, etc.), but I really didn't find these lyrics "epic" at all. Especially compared to a band like Rhapsody. 6
Here's a portion of the lyrics of the album:
Now Your Ships are Burned
Now your ships are burned
Because I don't know
There is a long way to go
Future will show
Where the road is leading me
I will never die
'Cause I will fly
To the other side
I'm trying to fight
For what is right
But evil spirits pass me by
They do what they want
They just don't care
What you feel or what you say
I will never die
'Cause I will fly
To the other side
Overall Impression
Incredible Album! The guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, vocals, and guitar are awesome. Even the lyrics don't drag down this album very much. This CD is short, clocking in at about 40 minutes, but I would definitely recommend this album to anyone interested in Neoclassical music ( or just interested in hearing great guitar playing) 9
