Appearance

Great Simple looking amp. Available in any colour as long as it's black. ( Black only ) regular wooden box frame with vynal covering. Top Handle Small Mesa Logo on the upper centre of the amp. Express symbol amungust the nobs. Single Input. 7 switches 10 nobs. Appears very cluttered but this might be okay for some people. Looks much simpler on bigger cabs but for smaller does appear to have more room for effects than for the actual buffer!. Still a great looking peice of equiptment, would look great at home for jamming or on stage. Very Simple scheme and colours. The details are where the beuty lies in these amps. Leather corners and such.

Sound

Mesa Amps are all about Tone, Less volume. The 2 channel on this amp is almost like having 2 different amps in 1! with a flip of a switch you go from a clean sound with crunch as a second choice to a more Bluesy sound with a burn sound as the destorision here. Great tone but very picky. It takes alot of adujusting the many possible changes to bass and mid ect in order to find a tone you like. Great Sound Great tone is what you get from this "Entry Level" Mesa Amp

Overall

The main thing that needs to be accounted for would be the price of these new amps. They are considered an Entry level amp from mesa but the price on it is over a thousand. If you have the money to pitch out for this kind of amp then go for it. The Express 5:50 has a great tone, an acceptable look and a great value. BUT it is not a large amp for its price. The Music Industry review of this Amp was 5 stars for everything, it was called impossible to fault. Even has great value, but is still very expensive.
