About

Luca Turilli is a guitarist for the Italian symphonic powermetal band Rhapsody of Fire, his own solo project named Luca Turilli, and the newly founded band Luca Turilli's Dreamquest. His style of music is heavily influenced by classical musicians such as Antonio Vivaldi, Niccoló Paganini and Johann Sebastian Bach. He writes songs with great melodies which have that epic feel about them, so most of his songs could be played during a final battle in Lord of the Rings or another epic movie.

Biography

Luca was born 5th March 1972 in Trieste, Italy. Currently he's living in Lyon, France. His favourite food is Fajitas, favourite drink is diet coke, and his favourite game is Unreal 2. He got interested in music when he turned 16, learning both guitar and piano, under influence of his father.

Luca says that if he wasn't a musician, he would probably be designing video games.

Thundercross and Rhapsody of Fire

When Luca was 21 years old, he started the band Thundercross. When they recorded their first demo, they renamed the band to Rhapsody. In 2006 they renamed the band to Rhapsody of Fire because of copyright reasons, since a little-known French band had the same name.

Luca Turilli

Luca started a solo project in 1999, with himself on lead guitar and keyboard, Olaf Hayer (Fairyland, Dionysus) as vocalist, Michael Rodenberg on keyboards, Sascha Paeth on bass and Robert Hunecke-Rizzo on drums. On the second album, Luca only played lead guitar. However, on the third album, Michael Rodenberg no longer joined as keybardist. Instead Luca played all the keyboard himself. Bridget Fogle also joined as a co-vocalist

Luca had first planned his solo career to be a trilology with the albums: King of the Nordic Twilight, Prophet of the Last Eclipse and The Infinite Wonders of Creation, however a fourth album is being planned. Luca himself says "I can already tell you that the next album will be the solo album I always dreamed of." He also says that it's the imaginary "Keeper of the Seven Keys Part 3" he had dreamt of hearing Michael Kiske sing.

Luca Turilli's Dreamquest

This band was founded in 2006, and was originally planned to be named only "Dreamquest", but Luca was forced to put his own name in it to avoid legal consequences from yet another unknown French band with the same name.

This time Luca is only going to be playing on keyboards. The guitar is being handled by Dominique Leurquin, while Sascha Paeth and Robert Hunecke-Rizzo is playing bass and drums again.

The biggest part of this band is that the vocalist's identity (only known as "Mystique") is being kept a secret. Some says that the co-vocalist of Luca's solo project Bridget Fogle is the mystic singer, but this is unconfirmed.

So far, only the single Virus (2006) and the album Lost Horizons (2006) has been released. The second album was said to be finished already in the beginning of 2007, but a release date is still unconfirmed.

New Unnamed Project

I ventured to www.lucaturilli.com earlier today, and noticed a new icon there, saying "Coming Soon". I'm waiting in joy to see what that might be!
