FINGER YOGA!
Let’s do our usual Finger Yoga stretches. Here is a link to the video for references.
WARMING UP TO THE CRAZY TRAIN
Before jumping the rails, let's start slow. In this shape, use your first finger and pinky. Then we will make it harder by moving our pinky out (wider stretch) one fret at a time repeating the entire pattern.
Try on different strings
Try a double pick version.
WORKING YOUR STRETCH FOR RYTHM PARTS
Last time we worked on lead licks and our stretch. Let's work a rythm part.
Try on different strings
Try a double pick version
Let's transition to a lead lick built around a blues scale and give our stretch a break. This will focus more on tight precision and and our "back and forth" technique.
Try at different positions on the neck
Try a double pick version
Lastly, let's do another blues/pentatonic lick, but this time lower on the neck and using open strings. This is a VERY simple pattern and it's mostly about the picking. Focus on your right hand and PICK EACH NOTE and palm mute.
Try in key of E and A
Try a double pick version
Practice!
