whammysam14th July 2019Excellent lesson demonstrating various fret placements that achieve same results. Beginners may find this a tad (Boring) to learn. But little may they realise the long term benefits in learning this. An old blues player tought me something simillar but with the pentatonic scale. I just couldnt understand at the time what the benefits of learning these repetitive movements could be. Now, 24yearts later, I totally understand his wisdom and feel indebted to him forever.

The "Mastering the Fretboard: Descending Modal Pattern" lesson builds a series. If you aren't already familiar with these modes check out the first video in the series, "Mastering the Fretboard." This particular exercise is inspired by the playing of Eric Johnson and it is intended to continue to expand your ability to get around the next - in style. For the tone I'm using a compressed overdrive with some delay. This lesson will also work your alternate picking. Enjoy!
