  • Hello everybody!

Welcome to my first lesson! This is my original tune called "Beautiful Lani". This song will be on my third album and will be featuring Frank Gambale on guitar. I wrote it a year ago for one of the clinics I did in Russia. I got asked to judge and perform at one of the contests in Moscow and I had to come up with something melodic and not that complicated, because I had to play with a live band without any rehearsals. So that's what I came up with! The whole idea was to have a very simple melody and interesting changes. Today we will go over the main melody and part of the solo!

I hope you guys will enjoy this lesson and will learn a lot about melodic minor and chromatic scales.

    Key signature:
The main melody is in G major but it changes to D minor when the solo comes in.

    Gear:
    Tom Anderson Telecaster
    Ugly Amps - Ugly 18
    ZMG - Aspid Drive
    Waves plugins
    Apogee ensemble

    Main melody:
Here is the scale that is being used for the main melody

Beautiful Lani single is available on iTunes.

    Solo:

When the solo starts the key is changing to D minor but I am using two dominant chords (Bb7 & A7) that makes my solo in D harmonic minor.
It gives us Bb and C# that are chord tones of the progression.

Here is the scale for the solo part:
