  • Hello friends! I´m glad to see you again. Having a good technique is extremely important, and the unique way to achieve it is not only to play whole pieces or beautiful compositions, but also spend time in studies. I think that technique and musicality must walk together.

In a first step, if you want to play flamenco music, you must pay attention specially to thumb technique and rasgueado, so I strongly recomend to study these techniques slowly and focusing the different possibilities and combinations of them.

Today I offer you a thumb-index study. The key is: the thumb rests on in the lower string (apoyando in spanish) and index not (tirando. This way allows you to emphasize the thumb melody, whereas the index creates rythmic and harmonic support.

The most famous composition in guitar with this technique is the introduction of Asturias, from Albéniz (although the original composition is for piano). Well, I hope you like the composition. Regards!
