Awesome lesson! Maybe you can do some lessons on the modes of minor scales. Do they still sound good in real musical context? Or are they too removed from regular scales to tell?
You have a mixture of harmonic and natural minor in this lesson. Both sound good in this context but harmonic minor has some unique sounding. I'll do some more similar lessons soon.
Thanks for the comment

Wow! That's amazing!
I suppose you locked yourself away in your room for three years and practiced for 12 hours a day! (I know a guy who did that, and he can play like this too. It obviously works!).
I'm having enough trouble mastering the major and minor scales - (or should that be Ionian and Aeolian modes!), let alone these others! I love this neoclassical stuff, so I'm gonna have to learn them! Is it just a case of practicing for years until it all sinks in, or are there any helpful shortcuts?!!
I used to practice like that about 15 years ago and I was addicted to it
Now you can see the result. I could have played like this 10 years ago as well. Practicing and listening music is the only key.

And what`s the problem with Ionian? Learn it along all fretboard and you will knew 7 scales at once, learn harmonic minor and it will be another 7

I know what you mean about the major scale along the length of the fretboard - 7 modes. What are the 7 scales that the harmonic minor produces? Are they just harmonic minor versions of the 7 'standard' modes? I've been slacking a bit on the scales I hate to admit, but they are coming slowly. I guess they just have to 'sink in'...
This piece is very typical of neoclassical, and Malmsteen in particular. Out of the scales that are used, which is the most 'Malmsteeny'?! When it's speeding along, certain notes leap out at you that shout 'Malmsteen', if you know what I mean, but they're hard to pin down. Which are the 'Malmsteen' notes, and what scale do they belong to? I've had a dabble with the Mixolydian mode, and as we all know, that sounds very Spanish - I think it's the minor 2nd that plays a big part there, and it can also sound pretty neoclassical.
Is the major 7th of the harmonic minor the one that identifies neoclassical?
I'm trying to get up to speed with blues at the moment, but I still try the odd bit of shredding!!! These guys make it look so easy!!!

Harmonic minor modes work the same way as major scale modes but your first (starting scale) is Harmonic Minor. Their names are as follows: (but you might find another names as well)
1) Aeolian #7 (Harmonic Minor) - A B C D E F G# - AmMaj7(b6)
2) Locrian #6 - B C D E F G# A - Bm7b5
3) Ionian #5 - C D E F G# A B - Cmaj7#5
4) Dorian #4 - D E F G# A B C - Dm7(#11)
5) Phrygian #3 (Phrygian Dominant) - E F G# A B C D - E7(b9,b13)
6) Lydian #2 - F G# A B C D E - Fmaj7(#9)
7) Mixolydian #1 (Diminished) - G# A B C D E F - G#dim7
the last one people also call - Altered Dominant bb7
If you want modes of Melodic Minor Scale they are as follows: (this one is used in jazz non-stop)
1. Ionian b3 (Melodic Minor)
2. Dorian b2
3. Phrygian "b1" (Lydian #5)
4. Lydian b7
5. Mixolydian b6
6. Aeolian b5
7. Locrian b4

I just want to say that I am actually playing only 2 scales all the way. It's like a bunch of licks connected together and trust me when I say that anyone can play this with some practicing. You'd be surprised that this is not that difficult. Straight 4/4 rhythm, and some fast AP which needs some more time spent with the guitar.
