Welcome to the "Diatonic 7th Chords" lesson. This lesson adds the the concepts of triads, scale degrees, intervals, diatonic pitches, and adding color to chords. This is the eighth lesson in a series introducing music theory and here we look at building diatonic 7th chords - all of the 7th chords that naturally come from a major key (C in this case).
Tone-wise I am using the neck position pickup selection on my Tele. I am using a simulated Fender-style amp with a little spring to get a basic gritty tone.
Concepts covered:
Review of scale degrees, intervals, triads, and adding color to chords
Diatonic 7th chords
Adapting a melody with diatonic 7th chords
Play-along with ascending and descending diatonic 7th chords
Play-along with Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star using diatonic 7th chords
Gear: Tele(neck pickup)>Tascam 4X4HR>Pro Tools>AmpliTube 5(American Amp 1)
In this lesson part I discuss the basics of building 7th chords. See the lesson part tab for chord shapes.
Enjoy!
