Welcome to the "Adding Color to Chords" lesson. This lesson adds the the concepts of triads and scale degrees. This is the seventh lesson in a series introducing music theory and here we look at what constitutes a color chord and how can we add more color to our chords.
Tone-wise I am using the middle position pickup selection (neck and bridge) on my Tele. I am using a simulated Fender-style amp with a little spring to get a basic gritty tone.
Concepts covered:
What are color chords?
What are not color chords
Level 1 Color Chords - major and minor triads
Adding more color with 6ths, 7th, and 9ths
Going beyond 6ths, 7ths, and 9ths
Stacking colors
Play-alongs to practice various color chord shapes and changes
Gear: Tele(neck pickup)>Tascam 4X4HR>Pro Tools>AmpliTube 5(American Amp 1)
In this lesson part I discuss the basics of color chords.
Enjoy!
