  • Hi GMC! Welcome to my new lesson! This lesson has been inspired by Petrucci’s solo album called "Suspended Animation". I can’t say that it’s a lesson "in the style of" but you’ll find his influences and also other ones. We have been discussing this album in the forum and also about John, Dream Theater, and Liquid Tension. Everything that he does is awesome to me. I’m not only talking about his musical abilities, I also talk about his good taste for composing.

Besides this, you’ll also find some licks in the style of Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen. This tune begins with an interesting riff that then is harmonized. Then I play melodies using A minor and A harmonic minor scales. You’ll find this exercise very helpful to improve your alternate picking technique and to develop your stamina.

I hope that you enjoy it.

    Gab.
