Hello GMC!
- Welcome to the second part of the Thumping Practice Series. In this lesson I'm going to show you a series of exercises that will develop your slap bass technique. All the exercises you'll find in this lesson will be focused on the thumping technique. Its essential to get this technique under control and be able to execute different rhythms and patterns using it.
- This lesson series will focus on thumping technique - applied on all the strings! Many bass players tend to practice slapping only on the first 2 strings and get weak thumps on the D and G strings. Doing exercises from this lesson will help you get the thumps strong on all the strings.
- I had a G minor pentatonic scale on mind while constructing these exercises, so, all the grooves will fit that scale!
-Time signature: 4/4
-Tuning: standard
-Difficulty: for all levels of playing
Equipment I used for getting this sound was: Am Fender Jazz Bass deluxe, equal mix of both pickups with added bass and middle on onboard preamp - then going to the nemesis (eden) amp with a 1x15" and flat eq there.
Feel free to ask me any questions in the lesson's feedback and in my instructor board at the forum.
Enjoy and I hope you'll have a lot of fun practicing slap bass techqnique!
