Hi GMC´ers, in this lesson we´ll see more about black metal style. Completely based on riffing, I think you´ll find some interesting things to work on. Here I used some influences from Satyricon and Dimmu Borgir, so I hope you like it :P
The concept here´s to create a extreme and dark atmosphere. Keeping yourself brutal and killer from the beginning to end. Parts of this lesson have minor 3rds combinations, palm muting, open chords, and a meter variation at the end to 5/4.
One important thing to play this style of music, is to stay completely relaxed. Every black metal guitar player has an incredible attitude on stage, that´s why they need to be relaxed all time. We´ll start in Eminor key, using notes from the E Harmonic minor, specially 3rds and 7ths.
Take this lesson step by step and have fun!
Chords: included.
Used scales: E minor, E Harmonic Minor.
Meter: 4/4 - 5/4
Tune Down: 1/2 step
TEMPO: 135 bpm
As some of you know, I use a POD xt to rec all my lessons. In my board you´ll find my presets ;) On the other hand, here´re the settings for people who want them.
Amp model: based on Marshall JCM-800
Drive 6
Bass 4.9
Middle 5
Treble 6.8
Presence 7
Small room Reverb:
Predelay 0%
Decay 42 %
Tone 50%
Mix 43%
Remember: Same settings in other gear will produce a different sound, but, as we´ve talked at the forum, this could be useful for some members, so enjoy!
If you have any problems let me know. Take care.
see you all around.
