Hi GMC!
Welcome to my new lesson in the style of Nita Strauss, an American guitarist, best known for her work with Iron Maiden tribute band The Iron Maidens, as well as for his work as the lead guitarist in the band of Alice Cooper.
Music Style:
She is a guitar shredder with strong influences from Hard Rock, and Metal bands and guitarists. His playing can go from a more classic rock style with Alice Cooper to a very technical speed metal as it can be heard in her solo album and guest appearances. In this lesson, I’ve tried to re-create her solo style based on her most popular songs.
Tonality, Chord Progression & Scales:
When analyzing his music, we can found out that her favorite scales are Minor (Aeolian), Harmonic Minor and Pentatonics. She also uses a lot of arpeggios and triads when shredding.
This tune is in D minor and the chord progression is based around the I, VI, VII, IV and V. The V is usually played as Major, so the scale switches from D minor to D harmonic minor.
Techniques:
In this lesson I combine rhythm with advanced Lead techniques. We will work on Palm Muting, Riffing, Alternate Picking, Legato, Sweep Picking, Bending and Vibrato.
Sound:
I used Fractal Ax8's Diezel emulation, Cubase 9.5 to record audio and midi, Addictive Drums II for drums and Trillian for bass.
Tuning: Drop D.
