Hey GMC!
Welcome to my new lesson where we take a look at the style of film composer Hans Zimmer. Known for films like Inception, Interstella and The Dark Knight he is a modern film composer who draws on lots of modern tonal sounds for his music. This piece is inspired by his use of guitar in the film Inception. The guitarist Johnny Marr was called in for the guitar parts and this is a great oppertunity for you to get yourself comfortable at the heart of an Epic orchestral track.
The tune uses the key of F Dorian and F Pentatonic Minor. Focusing on repeated ostinato patterns and some sparse chords.
I've added the BIAS AMP preset I made for the lessson on the BIAS Tone Cloud (its titled Hans Zimmer Style). Another important part of the sound is a long delay/reverb, similar to a strymon pedal setting. I've used Logics built in reverb plug in called 'Space Designer' with the preset called 'Resonant Flow'.
Enjoy!
