Diego, do you use the shredder 3.5 for all styles, or just for funk guitar?
In my case the pick makes a huge difference. I checked some of the chicken picks models, and all of them make a very good "funk guitar tone" in my opinion. Much high frequency and sharp attack, they sound great! I like the Bermuda III 2,1 and the shredder 3.5 best.
Wow, I never thought that I would find better picks than the "pickboy 100" that I usually use, but the chicken picks are way better. Thank you very much for the hint!
Hm, Diegos muted notes sound so much better than mine... ;-) Does it matter how hard you pick, and which pick you use? Which pickup, neck and middle? It's hard to see.
When I'm playing muted funk grooves like this, I often hear harmonics when muting at the 5th, 7th, 9th or 12th fret, because this is the place where you can easily play flageolets, too. I'd rather have a more percussive than a tonal muted sound. Do you have a special technique to avoid harmonics, maybe mute the strings with the right hand, too?
Thanks a lot everybody!! I'm glad to know that you guys enjoy it!
Agreed about the dancing, this is such a cool groove! 🕺
I like the style of funk you play. I've stole many of your ideas and made it my own. This one makes me want to dance.
This sounds awesome!!!
