Hello GMC, and welcome to my new lesson. Today we will do some ballad soloing and phrasing, but also trying to do some nice phrasing effects to make your playing more expressive.
I named this solo "Ballad For Everyone", because anyone can learn it, and it sounds cool enough to sing it. It's a nice and easy piece that you can develop further easily, because it has a strong main theme.
The accent in this lesson will be on vibrato and bending - the two most important techniques in ballad soloing. Good vibrato and bending use will enable us to give the guitar tone a more expressive, vocal-like character.
The function of vibrato here will increase as the solo progresses. In the beginning we will use it lightly, and later transfer to more aggressive vibrato. Same goes for other techniques too. In the beginning we pick lightly (both with fingers and with pick), and later on, we use aggressive picking with lots of raked notes.
If you have any doubts, check the spoken video on the slot "1", or ask me questions via my board or via PM on GMC forum.
Have fun! :)
