P.S. I'm not quite sure how to edit the mix to get the pinch harmonics to punch through - they sound fine with the dry mix but over the backing it's pretty hard to hear them - any pointers? Thanks again guys!

Hey man I noticed that you're using a bizarre approach to picking. You're combining some alternate with some down strokes which is making it a little inefficient for when you play the single note lines afterwards.
For the repeating chord shapes just use down strokes. Then you can follow Lian's approach and use alternate picking for the single note lines. If you have a clearly defined way of doing it then you won't find yourself having to awkwardly compensate because you landed on the wrong pick stroke.
You have a tendency to go in front of the beat during the single note lick so when the following chord comes in, it's too early. I noticed that even Lian speeds up a bit there too so try to avoid that.
Keep up the good work, just a couple of minor issues to tighten up is all!

As Ben said, the main difference is the direction of your pick when you are playing this lesson. Lian uses strictly downstrokes and this makes the riffs sound more aggressive and accentuated, and it also helps to keep timing tighter. Your take is lacking those things and the main reason is the mix of downpicking with alternate picking.
About pinch harmonics, the problem is not related to mix, it's related to technique, where you pick and the angle used. You should give a look at this lesson:

Hey Chris! Your harmonics does not break through mix because they are not 100% clean. You need to work on the execution of those harmonics. They way you play at the moment, you only "partialy" get the harmonic. Spend more time on moving your right hand left and right to learn where are the sweet spots for each harmonic - yes, they all have different spots and very often it can be a few milimeters difference. You can also recheck your right hand pick grip and both - time and strenght of thumb touching the string right after the pick. If you hold too hard or for too long , you mute the harmonic...it has to be a milisecond of soft touch to make it perfect
