Muris Beginner Phrygian Solo |
|
Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.
The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Rhythm placement - 3
Cleanness - 3,5 Feel - 3,5 Posture - 3,5 Sound - 3,8 Well there are lot of things you need to work on. First your vibrato is very weak and needs to be consistent. This is noticable when you're playing longer notes. Some lines are out of time. They should be right on the beat. Try practicing with metronome. I would like to see much more control and confidence. I would also advise less distortion or if you're using software modeler or a POD then try different amp model. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Rhythm placement - 3
Cleanness - 3,5 Feel - 3,5 Posture - 3,5 Sound - 3,5 Some problems here, but it's the vibrato that comes across as needing most work. The timing was mostly ok, but it gets a bit sloppy in the 2nd half. The sound comes across as a bit sharp in the recording. -------------------- Guitars: Schecter Stiletto Classic, Jackson SLSMG, Ibanez RG-380 Japan, Gibson Les Paul Studio
Amp: Marshall JMP-1 -> Rocktron Velocity 100 -> Marshall JCM-900 Lead 4x12 FX and stomps: T.C Electronics G-Sharp, Korg SDD-1200, Emma Transmorgrifier, BYOC Tribooster, GGG Green Ringer, Dinosaur Overdrive, Voodoo Lab SuperFuzz, Sovtek Bassballs, Line6 Tap Tremolo, EHX Screaming Bird. ___________________________________________________ My Lessons! Rhythm placement - 3,5
Cleanness - 3,5 Feel - 3 Posture - 4 Sound - 2,5 sound could be much better. Try to tweak it so you get a more smoother sound, and roll off the presence a bit, so it doesn't sound to harsh in the top end. Nice balanced sound is half of the job. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

Rhythm placement - 4
Cleanness - 3,5 Feel - 3,5 Posture - 4 Sound - 3 I gave 4 for timing cause it was very nice considering your overall level, well done! However you should work more on your vibrato, make it sound more natural, sound was also too sharp, I would cut some treble there or som. Appreciated effort, keep it up. -------------------- Youtube

Rhythm placement 4
Cleanness 3.5 Feel 3 Posture 4 Sound 2.5 The take is ok and will be perfect soon with a bit of practice. As Muris said you have to practice your vibrato to make the solo sound with more feeling. However the most important thing to fix here is your guitar sound. You'll never feel comfortable with this sound. I don't know what you used but try to change the settings. -------------------- My lessons
