Whassup everybody!

I know that its been awhile since I've been around, but I wanted to share what I've been extremely busy over the past few months with. My band, Ventura Lights, (formerly the Youtube Band Project) has just released our very first single to the public. It's called "Superheroes" and we're very proud of it!

For those of you who don't know yet, our band was formed by Cobus Potgieter (the most-subscribed to drummer on youtube!) and we got together for 30 days to write and record a full length album. It was intense! The 5 disc box set will be released in August (3 DVDs & 2 CDs).

For "Superheroes" instead of making it available for purchase on iTunes, we decided to release it on youtube and to make it free to download from our website: www.venturalights.com

Anyway, enough about that.....check out this video of our single!

Your tone sounds really good here! Again, only things I'd like to see would be to get that backing track a little louder in the mix and work on your timing some more. Your hammer-ons sound great! Very good execution on them. Great job!

great take! The only suggestions I would make would be to continue working on those bends to get them to the exact pitch, and use not so bright of a tone. Maybe flip your selector switch on your guitar all the way up and use your neck pickup. And, like the others said, it would be good to hear a bit more of the backing track.

Overall.....very well done!

well done! Overall it was great! Like the others have said, focus on getting those bends to be more precise and watch the timing on some of your notes! Great job!

Great job! You get a 10 from me. I actually like that you used a cleaner tone than my original tone. It compliments the tune very well! Nice choice and great job.

Very great job! I have the same advice as the others. Pay attention to the tone (you want a smoother sound) and make sure your strums are tight (so they have 1 complete sound instead of 6 individual string sounds, like Ivan said).

Other than that, if I close my eyes, it sounds like I'm playing it! biggrin.gif

Very well done! You are definitely improving with each video. I have same advice as the others, and also make sure to really focus on the timing of the notes so that you're playing them at the exact right time to give it that professional feel and sound.

Excellent take! You nailed it! Perfect timing and very nice and smooth tone! Like Sinisa said, vibrato will be very helpful to bring those longer notes to life. I'm looking forward to your next REC lesson!

This is definitely an improvement from your first take! I think everyone else has pretty much summed up what will be good to improve on this lesson. I'd just continue what you are doing because you are obviously improving. Also, focus on hitting the notes on the exact time to make sure that your playing is nice and tight!

Looking forward to seeing the progress in your next video!

Nice smooth playing ,well done wink.gif

Thanks Cosmin and Sinisa! I bought this guitar from a guy who makes them to look exactly like John Mayer's main guitar. He also does other reproductions, like David Gilmour's guitars, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and quite a few others. Check him out at:

GNR concert, Use Your Illusion tour, at the hypodrome in Paris, back in 1991. I was completely blown away by the musical magnitude of the band and especially their lead gitarist. He was not only standing there as a true Guitargod, but he shure played like one too. Slash is the reason why I started playing the six strings. I will honor him and be gratefull to him for that, for the rest of my life.

I was actually thinking about Slash today because someone reminded me that today is his birthday, I believe.

He really is one of the few guitarists that has really transcended musical boundaries. Even if you don't play guitar or aren't a fan of rock music, chances are you've still heard of Slash biggrin.gif

The influence he has had is phenomenal!

I've found that on those times when I go for about a week without playing, for the first hour or so when I pick the guitar back up I have a very different approach to my phrasing. Its like I forget my habits for a little while and play like a different person with different ideas.

But then, after a short time it's back to playing my usual way laugh.gif
