My first thought when I read this was that I was hoping it was because you had gotten that gig! And I see your post in the other thread! I'm very happy for you. I have been working on this assignment and will get something up for you in the next day or so.

Thank you! Unfortunately my mentoring program is closed and I can't give you any new assignments

For all of you wondering what the gig was ......
It's Avril Lavigne and I think I got it they called me back and we will start rehearsing in January smile.gif
I didn't get 6 pack and still need to work out but they have decided to give me shot! I am really happy and looking forward to start working with her! Also I have been promised to be in a lot of guitar magazines like Guitar player, and Guitar World with interviews! So it will be very nice! smile.gif

Hi Alex hope you had a nice christmas smile.gif
Well lets go back to some fusion training again.

Well I listen to a lot of music and try to pick up things from there and come up with my own, but I need to learn more licks down the fretboard too, so I was thinking of learning greg howes improvistation of sunny, where can I learn some more cool licks?

Also can we pratice playing in changes? We can start from the beginning if you would like
We have done some pratice over this but we can go back and start from there

Hi! unfortunately I am not gonna be able to continue mentoring you the reason is that my program will be closing in a few days...

I started mapping out the triad's as pairs and naming them but got stuck after the basic ones were done, so I found this

Can you check it's correct

For the Key of C

I
C E G + D F A = D F A C E G = ii-m11 = Dm11
C E G + E G B = C E G B = I-M7 = CM7
C E G + F A C = F A C E G = IV-M9 = FM9
C E G + G B D = C E G B D = I-M9 = CM9
C E G + A C E = A C E G = vi-m7 = Am7
C E G + B D F = C D E F G B = I-M11 = CM11

ii

D F A + E G B = E G B D F A = iii-m11 = Em11
D F A + F A C = D F A C = ii-m7 = Dm7
D F A + G B D = G B D F A = V-9 = G9
D F A + A C E = D F A C E = ii-m9 = Dm9
D F A + B D F = B D F A = vii-m7/b5 = Bm7/b5
D F A + C E G = D F A C E G = ii-m11 = Dm11

iii

E G B + F A C = F A C E G B = IV-M11 = FM11
E G B + G B D = E G B D = iii-m7 = Em7
E G B + A C E = A C E G B = vi-m9 = Am9
E G B + B D F = E G B D F = iii-m9 = Em9
E G B + C E G = C E G B = I-M7 = CM7
E G B + D F A = E G B D F A = iii-m11 = Em11

IV

F A C + G B D = G B D F A C = V-11 = G11

F A C + D F A = D F A C = ii-m7 = Dm7
F A C + E G B = F A C E G B = IV-M11 = FM11 V
G B D + A C E = A C E G B D = vi-m11 = Am11
G B D + B D F = G B D F = V-7 = G7
G B D + C E G = C E G B D = I-M9 = CM9

vi

A C E + B D F = B D F A C E = vii-m11/b5 = Bm11/b5

B D F + G B D = G B D F = V-7 = G7
B D F + A C E = B D F A C E = vii-m11/b5 = Bm11/b5

Basic Outline

Show the 7 triads in note name

Show the 3 shapes for the major triad, the minor triad and Dim triad for string set 654

Use G major key (it's got nice locations on the fretboard)

Show triads on fretboard for each inversion

Give exercise for G major inversions with metronome
Give exercise for D minor inversions with metronome
Give exercise for F#dim inversions with metronome

Give triad exercises up and down diatonic scale.

Do the same for 543, 432, 321 string sets

Give chord progression exercises to practice linking inversions across string sets and to make something musical

Superimposing Triads

Explanation and showing the examples

Show examples on fretboard of triads linked together on same string set
Show examples on fretboard of triads linked together on adjacent string sets

Exercises for using these over chord progressions

If you can give any help with effective exercises to drill and for good progressions to practice the triads and arpeggios over, I'd appreciate it.

If you think I've missed anything, or the order I've put things in isn't the most logical for learning also let me know, I'd appreciate the feedback

This might take me a while, especially as I'll be using it as a learning tool and practice agenda whilst compiling it!

Oh wow it is a lot of questions smile.gif
Give me a few days and I will prepare it for you! Probably after Christmas

[attachment=29887:post_143...44530863.png]

Every thing I want to learn, how chords are made, I know the major and minor chords, scales/Modes, melodies, Rhythm Guitar,Licks, song building, Music styles, What ever you can teach me smile.gif

Well it is a lot of information for such a short period of time! The program will be closed in two weeks so let's concentrate on one topic that is the most important to you!
Let me know what it would be!

Thanks!!!!!!!This was really challenging and gave me a completely new way to look at things. I really like moving scales for each chord and how it sounded. I'm looking forward to your next assignment. smile.gif

Just to let you know my mentoring program will be closed from January 1st so the assignment I will give you will be really simple
I would like you to compose the whole solo for the same backing track!
Start with a simple melody and develop it towards the middle and then bring it back to the melody again!
Let me know what do you think!

Alex

One of your video chats on Joe Pass arpeggios and also this mentoring thread, put an idea in my mind for a theory based project.

Seeing as I have Neck Diagrams, I thought I'd put it into good use and create a Triads document.

I think I need your input as I want it too be a useful tool for me and everyone here at GMC

I'm going to choose a key (probably C major)

Show the triads (and inversions) on string sets 123, 234, 345, 456

Then add superimposed triads to them to make extended chords

I guess the next step would adding non diatonic triads to get other extended chords b5 etc

To make it more useful, rather than just a reference document to included useful exercises to help, get it under the fingers, on the fretboard and from the mind to the ear.

Would you be interested in helping me with this, we could use it as the basis of my mentoring, I'm guessing I'll learn a lot compiling it.

I would love to help you out! smile.gif
The only thing is we will have to finish everything before the end of December because my mentoring program will be closed from January 1st

Jazz part updated, and I have a new idea for the song, a piano lydian part in the middle, and ending it all with some jazz again smile.gif
Cant come up with a good progression.

The song is in G. It contains the C lydian mode.. so the question is go for G lydian or C lydian to get the same key?

Sounds much better! Great timing and the whole performance is very interesting! smile.gif
To stay in G you have to play C lydian
Looking forward to hear the finished version! smile.gif

How to present it ? _ I don't know quite frankly!
Here is my track after this morning's lesson.
Based on E min of course (definitely a minor!)
I tried to include the principles of harmonization.
I tried to combine scales the best I could while staying creative on the melody!
U be the judge once again!
I worked hard to get one that would loop perfectly.
Kept the lead up front as much as possible.
Gave it some time for the progression to be - allowing a silent here and there.
Balancing the rhythm and lead guitar to give it the right dimension. Worked a bit on panning.
I am sorry, did not include an arpeggio - but working on it.

This is a Salute to a true Guitar Master
Many thanks - sincerely,..

Dubstep collab is closed here are the results
You all did a very good job
Attached File  Up_collab.mp3 ( 4.1MB ) Number of downloads: 292

First solo is played by Dieterle
You did a very nice job very interesting note choices I would suggest to keep it less busy at first and develop the solo towards the end more also some parts were a little shaky in timing Other than that you did a great job! smile.gif

Second solo is played by Bas Cuthach
Very nicely done I could hear some cool and creative idea arpeggios towards the end fit very well and I got a good vibe from the whole solo! Good job!

Thank you very much for participating in dubstep collab it is not an easy style to play but you all did an amazing job! smile.gif
