Hey guys,
I've been away for a long time for a special reason: I've been touring with the exceptional drummer Virgil Donati.
And we're going to Europe in October.
So, if you like good instrumental music, please come to see us and let's grab a beer after the show!

You can save some money and build an isolated room in your house (if it's not too small). That's what I'm doing right now.

If you're on a budget and your house is small, I think the AXE FX, KEMPER PROFILING AMP and POD HD500 are the best options,
followed by the famous plugins, like Amplitube, GR etc.

I don't know anything about this pedal Cosmin is talking about but for sure it sounds good too.

Well, I don't think there's the BEST blues guitar player. There is your FAVORITE one. Well, my favorite of all times I'd choose SRV. But nowadays it's Joe Bonamassa and Philip Sayce.

this One HMMMMMMMMMMMMM.........

cant find here in german shops yet , would be interesting how the are prized in Euro.

Hi mate! These are custom guitars and unfortunately not available to German stores. Although you can order one and the guitar can be sent to you, I think it's gonna be very expensive…
If we make it to Musikmesse, you can try one, for sure!

QUOTE (klasaine @ Jan 11 2013, 05:11 PM) *
You sound great on that Tele in your profile but I love green and that Dreamer axe looks really great. Congratulations!

This is a long shot but I have a friend in Sao Paolo, Marcelo Giangrande. He owns MG Music ... http://www.mgmusic.com.br/ Do you know of him or his business? I have one of his wah pedals. You can switch inductors on it as well as shift the frequency range - really great piece of gear.

Yeah, I know some of the guys involved in MG Music. They build great amps and pedals. Marcelo is not a close friend of mine, but I talked to him sometimes in the past and he seems a very nice guy. I've played the THAT'S ECHO FOLKS delay and it kicks ass!

QUOTE (Gabriel Leopardi @ Jan 11 2013, 02:15 PM) *
Wou!! Congrats mate! I didn't know these ones but they sound killer... Is it possible that I saw Kiko Loureiro with on of these?

Thanks Gabe. Well, Kiko Loureiro is with another company here - Tagima - and he's got good partnership going with them.
I don't think he will stop earning royalties to play with another company's guitar...

Great, Matt. Certainly it's gonna help lots of students with difficulties in the modes study. Some of my personal students have lots of doubts when it comes to learn the major scale modes!

Wow, that's such a nice studio, Cosmin.
I don't know much about the recording scene prices in Europe, but the 50 Euros price per hour sounds very good for me.

Hey guys!

Matt, glad you gigged here in Brazil, but sorry about it being your worst gig! haha

A couple of days ago, we were scheduled to play in a famous pub here in Sao Paulo, and we were very excited abou the show. What really wasn't expected was that NO ONE came to see us! I mean, really NO ONE. We didn't even played - just packed our stuff and left. Total disappointement!

About the greatest gigs, there were lots of them. When the croud is excited and the band plays good, this is always a good gig!

How long did you live in Brazil for and more importantly how long did it take you to learn potuguese.

My wife's from Goiania and I'm still trying to learn, I just don't practice enough and she hasn't got the patience to speak slowly and help!

No worries, PosterBoy. Portuguese is a very difficult language. Even some brazilians can't speak it right...

QUOTE (DetroitBlues @ Jan 5 2013, 03:16 AM) *
I'm DetroitBlues, the new kid on the block, and the old soul of the blues coming to you all fine people from Detroit. (Troy actually, but it's close enough for horse shoes and handgrenades). Looks like this place is the biggest best kept secret on the web. I'm very thankful to have been invited here.

Little bit of background on me, I started playing guitar at 14, on and off for the next 18 years. A relative of mine plays and the bug bit me hard shortly after playing with him. Bought a Epi Les Paul and fell I love with the blues. Tried to learn as much as could. Jammed with some coworkers and with their encouragement, I joined a band. Now I'm the lead guitarist in a local Blues Band, The Detroit Blues Crew. It's a fun ride, filled with its ups and downs. But it's the blues, no one said it was easy.

My primary axe is a 2001 American Standard Stratocaster with Dimarzio Area pickups. I also play an Epiphone Dot Deluxe with Seth Lover humbuckers and a partsocaster Stratocaster I've named the Detroit Bluescasters. My main amp is a Fender Blues Junior NOS with BillM mods. My effects include Dunlop Crybaby GCB95F Classic, Visual Sound Angry Fuzz, Digitech Bad Monkey, Boss Super Chorus, and a DeltaLabs Digital Delay. I've had many higher end guitars and amps, but I stuck with what feels and sounds right. I don't need a $5,000 guitar or 100watt full stack to play the blues. I've got what works for me.

Welcome to GMC, mate! Hope you enjoy our lessons!

I'm a lot into blues nowadays and seriously considering approaching this subject in next videos!

Your rig must sounds awesome! Don't you have any recordings available ?

Well, mainly i fill in the 'fusion' department because that's how guys like me are labeled. But I love MUSIC, you know ?
Nowadays I'm listening a lot of John Mayer, Bonamassa, Sayce… guys that have strong bluesy roots, but are very 'pop' in the
same way, specially Mayer. My playing has changed a bit because of these guys

Honestly, I also own Amplitube, GuitarRig, Revalver, and POD Farm and I use Poulin and TSE plugins over any of the paid plugins any day. Yes they are free plugins, but they wipe the floor with anything else out there of that nature (other than an AxeFX or Kemper).

If you don't know much about TSE check out their site, they have an ENGL 530 preamp vst, 5150 (x50) and a few pedals, and they are all top notch stuff.
http://www.theserinaexperiment.net/software.html

That's great news, man. I had never heard about a VST plugin that is better than Amplitube until now. Thanks for that, gonna check 'em out!

Honestly, I don't like to record with modelers of any kind. But it's a great tool to have. I find them very useful when giving classes and recording a song or idea - it's so fast and great for this particular purpose!

QUOTE (klasaine @ Jan 5 2013, 05:25 PM) *
Absolutely. And as I said - now I practice on a good instrument with a nice amp etc.

I think what I was trying to say is that when I (as well as many other musicians throughout history) was learning as a little kid I didn't know any better in regard to a good instrument. I also didn't realize that there was such a thing as 'distortion', a wah pedal, a slide, a phaser, etc. I remember trying desperately to get all those sounds off of a Jeff Beck record (Blow by Blow) with just a cheap SG copy that I had to plug it into my dad's stereo. Though of course I couldn't do it, trying to make it sound like JB forced me to really work with my two hands. Especially my picking hand to coax tones out of that thing. Pick by the bridge, pick a little sideways, pick over the end of the fretboard, use my fingers, use all the pickups, use the tone control (a very underused component of an elec guit IMO), etc. When I finally did get a good instrument (and a wah pedal biggrin.gif ) it was like ... "man, now this is easy!" OK, so I still don't sound like Jeff Beck but you get the idea. I am SO thankful that I was actually ignorant to the option of a 'good' instrument - for those early, formative years.

But yes, now I play on that bad*ss Tele you see wink.gif

That's a thing I always tell my novice students - focus on your playing instead of worrying about amps, cabinets, strings, guitars, woods etc. Sometimes they tend to be so much focused on that and for me it's not a good thing.
I started playing (9 years old) with a crappy cheap acoustic guitar and the only thing that matters to me at that time was to be able to reproduce my idols' songs. I only got interested in tone many years later, when I was 20!

Welcome to GMC, mate! Glad you're back!

I heard some of your stuff and they sound pretty damn good for being just DI recorded.
The mixing is a lot clear and 'in your face'. It seems that you'll have lots of jobs in near future smile.gif

I've heard a lot about this POULIN plugin - is it really worthy ? How this is compared to the 'majors', like GuitarRig, Amplitube … ?

What is that FIG amp/cabinet ? Is a custom made amp ? How does it sound like ?

Agreed. One of my favourite players - Michael Landau -, besides from being an ounstanding sideman and solo artist, is also one of the most respectful studio cats of EUA. I wish he had some video material showcasing his studio abilities and a talking a bit of how the system works.
