Full Version: New Collab Brainstorming

Kristofer Dahl
Hi guys,

It's been a long time since we did a collab - and I wanted to check with you if there is any interest in starting a new one?

Personally, I'm in the mood for one of those collabs where we start out simple and then let the contributions we get lead us into the unknown 😎

Do you let me know if you have any thoughts / ideas!

I'm down for anything.
It's been a while.

Awesome Ken - we have recorded so many cool recordings together πŸ‘Šβ€οΈ

I had an idea to maybe start with some drum and bass and let you lay some rhythm guitar.

But let's see if we get any other input.
Kristofer Dahl
I recorded some bass today with a drum plugin.

It's totally dry / drafty and open for any ideas & suggestions.

Intro

| Em | Em | C | B | x2

PART T1 ( could be chorus)

| Em | Em | C | B |
| C | D | G | F#b5 |

PART 2 (could be verse or something, changes key from Em to C#m)

| C#m | C#m/A | C#m/G# | F#m | x2

Then repeat PART 1...

The chords are only suggestions based on what the bass is playing.

Tempo:115 BPM

If this inspires anybody, feel free to dissect it and record whatever you feel like on top of it - we don't need to keep the structure or all parts. The idea is just for this to serve as a staring point.

WOW instantly it sounds like a song - amazing playing and tones here Ken!

I got your files and will think of how to add some hooks to the track and what the next step should be... Maybe we need some lyrics?! 😎

Btw what do you use to get that ultra present high-end?

Thank Kris!
As for the top-end, IDK. I used a Tele on the bridge pkup for the arps and a LP on the bridge pkup for the heavier stuff.
Amp sims for all of it. Various fake Marshalls and Fenders.
Kristofer Dahl
Ok very cool, you certainly know how to tweak those fake amps to make them fit extremely well into the mix!

I have been focusing on the intro as I feel it will really set the mood for the tune.

I still think there is a bit too much going on - but here is work-in-progress:

Hey guys -

Ken and I decided to give this one a new shot and I have recorded some vocals over it.

I am very excited about it and really hope it can be made into a track which sounds cool from start to end.

I still need to warn you my vocals are very rusty and I am also struggling with fitting the different singing styles into the mix. Any help is welcome.

I plan to keep improving the mix and also record "chorus" vocals at 00:34 and 01:15 but I think I need vocal coaching or something first πŸ˜…

If you have any suggestions, contributions or feedback - we're all ears!
Kristofer Dahl
I think the vocals sit much better in this mix, I have also added many small tweaks:
